Working Student Developer Relations

Intern / Student, Part-time · Berlin

About us

Rasa is the leading open source machine learning toolkit. Our software lets developers expand bots beyond answering simple questions, via natural language understanding.

Rasa has two major products:
1. Our open source Rasa Stack which enables thousands of developers worldwide, from startup level to Fortune 500, to build in-house sophisticated chatbots and voice assistants, without hiring a big research team.
2. Rasa Platform, a premium product, makes it simpler to train machine learning models at enterprise level. Among many helpful benefits, this provides companies with faster iteration cycles, greatly reducing costs and training time.

Rasa is headquartered in Berlin (Germany), funded by Basis Set Ventures, Techstars and open source entrepreneurs such as Ross Mason (Founder of MuleSoft) and John Newton (Co-founder of Alfresco).

Rasa is still small and we’re committed to growing a team of talented, compassionate people irrespective of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, physical or mental disability, or age. If you are a good fit for this role, we want to hear from you no matter who you are, and people from under-represented groups are especially welcome to apply.

summary
We are looking for a working student for 10-20h/ week to support our developer relations team.
About this role

Developers are at the core of what we do at Rasa - both for our open source and our enterprise products.

The developer relations team at Rasa owns the full funnel from developers first hearing about Rasa to contributing to our open source products and has one simple goal: constantly simplifying the experience with our products so that developers can get started faster, build better AI assistants or contribute to our open source.

You will work closely with our Developer Advocate and support the developer relations team in growing Rasa’s open source community. This role is very diverse and thus requires you to understand new topics quickly. This could be anything from engaging with our world-wide open source community, organizing community events and initiatives, contributing to improvements of Rasa documentation or creation of technical content for developers. Over time, you will take over your own responsibilities.

Self-improvement and feedback are very important at Rasa. You will work closely with your team lead on setting professional and personal development goals. Regular feedback sessions make sure you achieve these goals and learn quickly.

Please keep in mind that we are describing the background we imagine would best fit the role. Even if you don’t meet all the requirements, yet you are confident that you are up for the task, we absolutely want to get to know you!

About you
  • You have solid Python programming skills and you have a strong desire to apply and improve your skills

  • You are familiar with the concepts of ML and AI and you have a strong interest in applying and improving that knowledge

  • You take pride in helping others to understand difficult topics and you have an ability to explain technical concepts clearly and effectively.

  • You have a keen interest in new technologies, APIs and you are very hands-on when it comes to building new things from scratch.

  • You are a student, ideally in a computer science or engineering field, and you are going to stay in university for at least one more year.

  • You’re a doer and self-starter. You don’t need much explanation to get things done while working under uncertainty. You feel comfortable doing things that you haven’t done before.

  • You are excited about Rasa’s mission: to empower all makers to build AI assistants that work for everyone

  • Contributing or being actively involved in open source projects is a plus.

Things You Will Do

We’re a startup, so you’ll have to be comfortable rolling up your sleeves and doing whatever is required to support our mission. However, you can definitely expect to:

  • You will collaborate with the developer relations team on creating technical content - tutorials, how to’s, code examples and application demos.

  • You will work on improvements on Rasa’s technical documentation

  • You will collaborate with the engineering team on engineering projects and tools that Rasa developers will use.

  • You will help us find the best ways to engage with our developer community and run various initiatives that help to keep the community engaged.

  • You will help us organize and run Rasa User groups around the world and support community-driven Rasa events and meetups.
